Chatterbox Jazz Club Owner

David Andrichik

(Jul 31, 1950 - Present)

David Andrichik isn’t a musician, but he has had a significant impact on jazz in Indianapolis with his ownership and operation of the Chatterbox Jazz Club

The Chatterbox took a central role in the development of Massachusetts Avenue as one of Indianapolis’ Cultural Districts when Andrichik first bought the club back in 1982.  There were few businesses on the avenue compared to shops, restaurants, and the bustling nightlife it enjoys today.

Originally from Chicago, Andrichik had a vision to own a historic building in an urban area.  “In a way it is kind of a blessing I’m not a musician. I can take a step back and appreciate the music and know that the business side of what I’m doing to create a venue for them is just as important,” Andrichik is quoted in a Nuvo article by Travis DiNicola.  Local musicians can be found playing all types of jazz at the Chatterbox Jazz Club which is recognized as one of the city’s oldest jazz clubs. “There is such a wealth of jazz talent in Indiana!” Andrichik says, and Indianapolis is all the richer for having the venue and the opportunity for jazz to flourish in a town with a solid legacy in the music.
